I've never cooked a turkey. I've never had to. However, Scott won a turkey at the Turkey Shoot, which is some kind of shooting competition he went on with the Varsity Scouts back in November.
So, I don't want to waste it or have it sit in my freezer forever. I'm cooking it on Friday and having a party with some friends to help eat it.
As I'm having friends over, it would be nice of my pride weren't totally shattered by a poorly cooked turkey. Does anyone have any recommendations? I've read some tips on-line and the easiest method for now seems to be cooking it in one of those turkey bag things. Let me know if you've had any experience with those.

I'm excellent at eating turkey! Let me know if you need my experience :).
That is the only way I've cooked a turkey. They've always turned out great. I just follow the directions that come with the bags and go to town. I also get a disposable roasting pan from the dollar store. The bag is nice because all the drippings collect and you can make a nice gravy.
I have a turkey sitting in my freezer too. Can't beat .39 a pound at Thanksgiving...I need to cook it too.
turkey bags are the only way to go. the first turkey we ever cooked was in a turkey bag and it was very moist.
It really is quite simple. Remove the gizzard bag. Butter the outside. Put in oven bag and bake according to poundage directions!
Good luck! Make sure to let us know how it comes out.
Yes! Those bags are the only way to go! And if you want a nice moist turkey breast, cook it breast down. Good luck, hope it is great!!
