I've just read an entry on my sister's blog about her opinions on the family. (I agree with her). With that in mind, I just read this on the internet news site I read daily. The country referred to is England.
COUPLES who have more than two children are being “irresponsible” by creating an unbearable burden on the environment, the government’s green adviser has warned.
Jonathon Porritt, who chairs the government’s Sustainable Development Commission, says curbing population growth through contraception and abortion must be at the heart of policies to fight global warming. He says political leaders and green campaigners should stop dodging the issue of environmental harm caused by an expanding population.
A report by the commission, to be published next month, will say that governments must reduce population growth through better family planning.
“I am unapologetic about asking people to connect up their own responsibility for their total environmental footprint and how they decide to procreate and how many children they think are appropriate,” Porritt said.
I am stunned! How dare he say how many children we should have! I firmly believe part of our responsibility here is to procreate and provide bodies for the spirit children of our Heavenly Father. I believe the earth is here for man's use and that there are enough resources if we are wise stewards. I am appalled that Satan is getting hold of the heart's of men and causing them to actually think that having more than 2 children is "irresponsible."
As for the moment, Scott and I DO NOT feel we are done having children. Yes, we have four. Yes, I know they are ages four and under. Yes, we want more. Yes, we understand that is a large family in today's standards. Yes, I believe that our decision is the RIGHT decision.
I am not eloquent and do not know how to express myself well, but I hope you may have grasped in a small degree the passion that I feel on this topic.

That guy is an idiot. Why don't we just ask him to off himself to help stop global warming. Same results, right?
This is such a common liberal distortion--that the environment and humans are somehow equal, or that we must become subservient to global warming, a "threat" that is still open to debate.
I guess that best way you can kick dirt in their eyes, metaphorically, is have more children and be proud of it.
Dianne Hales and I were talking about this last night. Apparently in China, things are even worse and you are only allowed 1 child and if you get pregnant again, you are required to abort. And if you don't, and the government finds out, then they take matters into their own hands and it disgusts me. It's true we live in the last days and that Satan is doing everything in his power to try and bring down as many with him as possible. Thank goodness that we have the Gospel.
Wow, wow, wow! It is completely unbelievable. Makes me so grateful to have the gospel. We truly are in the latter days.
My SIL was just telling me today about a book she has been reading called "America Alone" and it talks a LOT about this and the Global warming scan and how almost every other country (except for Muslims) are having smaller and smaller families and how all of this impacts us and what our world is going to be like if these trends continue- very scary!

I read the same article. It truly made me sick to think that someone feels this way. I agree that this Earth can handle a growing population if we are good stewards.
