Blogs

I like to read blogs. I like to read about the lives of people I used to interact with. I also like to read cooking and parenting blogs. I don't get much into other types because either I don't care enough to take the time or I could never do what they are showing themselves do.
However, I really get turned off by advertising in posts. I don't mind side bar advertising, because I don't have to see it because Google Readers is great like that. I've thought about it today, because my magazine about raising kids (see no advertising) talked about the influence blogs and mothers are having on advertising.
I really get annoyed when suddenly recipes are using a certain brand of products (because just putting sour cream is not good enough). I tried a recipe that use a particular cereal in the crust. I didn't like it. Couldn't she just have used graham crackers instead of obviously using a certain cereal so she could advertise for them? I don't like being told to use something because the writer of the blog is getting the product for free. I feel like the credibility of all their opinions goes down when I realize they're pushing products because the company asked them to.
