Bed arrangements

Scott has been begging me for quite a while to put Marie and Peter in one room and Richard and Audrey in one room. Well, I wasn't a big fan of that idea, becauseI worried about Richard and Audrey not going to sleep and playing instead. I also was concerned that one of them would hate the idea and cause problems. So, I didn't have much motivation.
This past weekend, Audrey said, "Mommy I want to sleep with Richard and the babies." She was sad that she had to sleep in a room all on her own. Then, Richard and Audrey came up with the same plan that Scott had. Well, that confirmed to me that at least they would be OK with the idea and not get upset.
Yesterday, after I woke up from working all night, we rearranged the rooms. We put the babies in Audrey's old room since it's the smaller room. We moved all the toys into one of the bedrooms so we no longer have the family room as a play room.
The kids slept really well last night and went to sleep just fine tonight. So far so good!

Blogs

I like to read blogs. I like to read about the lives of people I used to interact with. I also like to read cooking and parenting blogs. I don't get much into other types because either I don't care enough to take the time or I could never do what they are showing themselves do.
However, I really get turned off by advertising in posts. I don't mind side bar advertising, because I don't have to see it because Google Readers is great like that. I've thought about it today, because my magazine about raising kids (see no advertising) talked about the influence blogs and mothers are having on advertising.
I really get annoyed when suddenly recipes are using a certain brand of products (because just putting sour cream is not good enough). I tried a recipe that use a particular cereal in the crust. I didn't like it. Couldn't she just have used graham crackers instead of obviously using a certain cereal so she could advertise for them? I don't like being told to use something because the writer of the blog is getting the product for free. I feel like the credibility of all their opinions goes down when I realize they're pushing products because the company asked them to.

Scrooge

Audrey got "Mickey's Christmas Carol" for Christmas. She's asked to watch it quite a few times since then. However, now she's afraid of Scrooge coming to get her. It used to be "Are there bad guys here?" We'd say no and that they're scared of Daddy. Well, now we have discussions about Scrooge and whether he's coming to our house or if he's with Donald or Mickey. We try to remind her that Scrooge is NICE at the end of the movie. However, that detail is not important to her. I've had to make her a bed on the floor next to me a couple of times this week because she's scared Scrooge is in her room and is going to get her. Why Scrooge? Why not Marley or The Ghost of Christmas Future? Who knows.

Audrey and Marie

So, do you like Oreos? Because Marie does!

I've started teaching Audrey from a preschool book I bought when Richard was her age. She's doing pretty well and gets excited to learn from it. You can see a sample of her writing. Hers are the lighter letters. I'm impressed by how well she's already doing.

The last survivor

I now have to join the ranks of those who have had wisdom teeth removed. I was lucky enough to have only one form in the first place, and it has stayed up so high in my jaw that it hasn't been a problem. However, over the past month, I have noticed a bulge in the back of my left upper jaw that seemed awfully indicative of my wisdom tooth.
So, at my dentist appointment today, it was confirmed that it has descended more than the last panoramic x-ray and that the bulge I feel is the tooth. I don't really have room for it nor do I have a tooth below it to be useful should I have room. So, it must come out.
I can already feel your sympathy for my relatively easy one-wisdom-tooth-removal situation. Just say it. "When I had my wisdom teeth out....!"

The boss

Richard likes to have races. He likes to race to see who can get dressed first, get on their knees for prayers first, finish their meal first, etc. Well, he adds "rules" to make sure he wins. If he's not going to win, he says, "This isn't a race."
Well, a couple of weeks ago (I know, I'm real prompt in posting this), he was racing Audrey to get dressed in the morning. He said putting his clothes in the laundry was not part of the race. This is because that meant he would lose and Audrey would win. I told him it WAS part of the race, because I hate seeing Audrey always have to lose.
Richard informed me that HE was the one who plays Mario Kart and so therefore he was the "boss of the races."
Oh the logic of a 5-year-old.

Christmas Party

Every year with have a party with my Mom's side of the family. I love seeing people and always have such a good time. However, we found out that this year was the last year. I'm sad about that, but I guess all good things eventually have to come to an end. We might just have to do something else. Hmmm...

I got pictures of all the kids with Santa. However, the one of Peter is on my parent's camera, and so all I currently have is the picture of him enjoying an animal cracker from his bag of crackers he received.

Don't you love how all 1-3 year olds (and sometimes older) think Santa is a scary man?
